Green Gully Hike
The hike takes place over five nights and four days. As the hike is entirely serviced by huts, with cooking facilities, fireplaces and beds, a number of regular items aren't needed.
Individual Items
Base
- Sleeping bag - 5°C should be sufficient
- Hiking Pillow - IO has some spares
- Rain cover (given likelihood, a cheap disposable poncho from Woolworths)
- Clothes for sleeping and around camp - long clothes preferred for mosquitos, these can be thermals
- Clothes for walking - long pants and long sleeves recommended for sun cover.
- Headlamp
- Down jacket or microfleece - warmth for around camp and in morning
- Thermals - don't overdo thickness of these as we will have fires at night
Other & Non-essentials
- Toiletries - toothbrush, medicines etc
- Thongs/sandals - for around camp
- Foam Sit Pad
- Headphones
- Mug - enamel or titanium, IO has spares
- Cutlery - plastic spork or similar
- Towel - small microfibre style
- Hat
- Buff/neckscarf - sun protection and multipurpose
- Sunglasses
- Kindle / ebook reader
- USB battery bank and cable - suggest minimum 20,000 mAh and keeping phone in flight mode.
- Hiking poles - IO has spares
- Sleeping bag liner - if worried about cleanliness of sleeping bag
- Windbreaker - light outer layer for extra warmth
